Lucknow Metro takes environmental measures at its project site to reduce pollution
LUCKNOW: Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) has taken a proactive action to give a fair and clear environment to the people of Lucknow who nowadays are under the spell of Smog. From November 14, Lucknow Metro has started working on it by maintaining special standards for cleanliness inside and outside of its entire project building spaces.
The city has been facing alarming levels of pollution since last few days owing to the smog.
With winters setting in, the smog forms thick layer over the atmosphere making it difficult for the citizens to breathe. Since the city has been facing heavy construction of metro, roads, flyovers etc in the past, the construction agencies have taken the responsibility to reduce the pollution in the air
Accordingly, the construction areas of Lucknow Metro are being cleaned and maintained regularly where special attention is being given to remove dust, dirt and small pebbles on the road. A metro official said, “Stubborn dirt in all barricade boards is also cleaned on daily basis. Besides that on all metro construction areas including underground Metro station, Metro casting yards and outer roads, water is being sprinkled through water tankers so that dry dust and dirt may not spread in the atmosphere and then it is removed by cleaning with broom.”
Lucknow Metro which had already been doing this cleanliness activity during night from its first day of inception has now started this activity during day time as well. Besides, all areas where there is accumulated heaps of soil are covered with tarpaulin after bringing them at a single place.
Keeping Lucknow’s environment in mind, Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation has taken a step to increase the number of cleaning staff. This staff is deployed on the construction site for only cleaning purposes on regular basis. The frequency schedule for water sprinkling on road and road cleaning by broom is as follows:
