Everything in a dream may not be as it seems. Sometimes what you feel is a bad situation can be interpreted as a fortunate event.

Dear Dream Retriever: I had this dream the other night and it bothered me — first, because I thought it was a good dream at the beginning but the first scenario ended up frightening me, and second, it was just bad, from what I could decipher.

I was walking in a mall, it seemed like present time, and everyone around me was happy. I turned down a corridor to go to a store and the corridor was empty. There were no stores or people. I noticed something on the ground at the end of the corridor and walked up to it. It was a guitar case full of money. I was so happy. I shut the case and picked it up. As I was walking out of the mall, the mall was being pillaged and people were panicking, running everywhere. I briefly woke up in the middle of the night and wrote this down.

The last thing that morning that I remember dreaming was that I was at some sort of event and the person beside me told me to stand farther away from them. I asked, “Why, do I smell or something?,” and they said, “Yes, really bad.” I walked away, and then I woke up. — Good or bad, Lunenburg

Dear Good or Bad: This is not as bad a dream as you perceive it to be.

The mall is a representation of shopping, so you are currently seeking opportunity. The guitar case full of money that you found is the opportunity. This tells you that the opportunity you have been waiting for is at your door. The pillaging and chaotic people are the surroundings you feel you have been in and are able to escape due to this opportunity coming. So what seems like a bad dream is actually a good dream.

To address the part where you are told that you smell: This is not literal. I can see where you may feel offended by the reference, but you didn’t recognize this person so it is more of a general statement. This is good also because you walked away. This simply means that you are not being supported by your social circle. Walking away is what you should do, if you haven’t already.
