Bengaluru to host global environment, sustainability fest

Bengaluru will host the country’s largest environment and sustainability festival from October 2 to October 11.

The international environmental festival, ‘Roundglass Samsara Festival 2017’, will have a series of events including environmental art exhibitions, film festivals, music concerts and summits.

The events will be showcased at various venues such as National Institute of Advanced Sciences (NIAS) at IISc, Suchitra Cinema and Cultural Academy, National Gallery of Modern Art, Sublime in UB City and at Vidhana Soudha.

The event at Vidhana Soudha will be held on October 6 and 7. “We will host the concert in the Legislative Council hall,” said Ricky Kej, 2015 Grammy Award winner and conservationist, who is organising the event along with Roundglass, an investment firm focused on investments in the healthcare industry. He added that the concerts will focus on fusion music, which will have artistes from across the world. It will also have industry leaders, scientists, ambassadors to various countries among others.

Dr Baldev Raj, director of NIAS, said that the initiative is unique and he is happy to be a part of it.

Among the delegates who will attend the event are Anote Tong, President of Republic of Kiribati, in the Pacific, A S Kiran Kumar, chairman ISRO, Anousheh Ansari, astronaut, and former Union minister Jairam Ramesh.

Musicians Sumarani (Hindustani classical and fusion music), Charanraj (singer, lyricist, musician), Rocky Dawuni (Ghanaian singer) will also take part in the event.
