LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Republican Party has gathered in Laramie for its convention leading up to this year's elections for governor and other statewide offices.

Wyoming GOP Chairman Frank Eathorne says GOP delegates will hear from candidates for various offices, sharpen the party's platform and consider resolutions.

Eathorne tells the Laramie Boomerang that convention topics are focused on local concerns and upcoming elections as well as refining the party's stand on proposed legislation.

He says the convention also will recognize the important role of women in building Wyoming.

Former U.S. Rep. Cynthia Lummis will chair the convention, which started Thursday morning with committee meetings and is slated to adjourn Saturday evening.
