Brigadier General Zoltan Bubenik elected next chairman of the COMEDS in NATO

Industry Updates: Brigadier General Zoltan Bubenik elected next chairman of the Committee of Chiefs of Military Medical Services (COMEDS) in NATO.

The current Chairman of the Committee, Canadian Major General Jean-Robert Bernier, will hand over the position to Brigadier General Bubenik of the Czech Republic in November 2018.

The election took place during the 48th Plenary Session of the Committee in Brussels on 6th December. Brigadier General Bubenik, M.D., has been Director of the Czech Military Medical Agency since February 2015. From 2018, for a three-year period, he will coordinate the work of COMEDS. The Committee provides recommendations to other NATO bodies and directly reports to and supports the decisions of the NATO Military Committee.

Conforming to NATO procedures, General Bubenik's election is subject to confirmation by the Military Committee scheduled for the end of this year.

General Bubenik said: "I regard my election to this prestigious Alliance organisation as recognition not only for the Czech Republic, but above all for our medical service. In this field, we have been achieving excellent long-term results and greater reliability in health care and medical support."

Brigadier General Zoltan Bubenik specialises in Medical Logistics Capacity and Planning within the Czech Armed Forces. He will be speaking on Day 1, and will brief on; 'Transforming Medical Logistics into a Fully Operational Branch of Defence Capabilities Through Critical Upgrades and Assessments.' He will cover topics such as improving Medevac operations through data assessment and evaluation, ensuring continuous equipment and supplies with a well organised supply chain, keeping air support up-to-date to meet every-day obstacles and exploring further at the scene medical attention preevacuation to reach higher survival goals.
