Airports Council International renews carbon accreditation certificate for Duqm Airport

Duqm: The Airports Council International has renewed Duqm Airport's carbon accreditation certificate for the first level, 'mapping level', for the second year in a row, for adopting the best international standards in preserving the environment through the latest internationally accredited programmes.

The renewal of the carbon accreditation certificate for this level comes within the plans of Oman Airports to upgrade its endeavours to reach higher levels in this field, which consists of 4 international levels.

The second and third levels of which were achieved by Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport, and they include identifying and measuring carbon emissions, reducing carbon emissions and preserving the lowest rates of carbon emissions and reaching neutrality. The aim is to reduce carbon emissions in the environment surrounding airports that are supervised by the Oman Airports Company.

These efforts come in line with the national strategic endeavours to achieve zero neutrality in 2050, which all concerned authorities in the Sultanate of Oman seek to implement in order to achieve a balance between the requirements of sustainable development and the sustainable use of natural resources and wealth for the growth of the national economy and reducing the effects of climate change.

Reducing carbon emission is considered one of the most important components of the strategies related to achieving Oman Vision 2040.
