Pravda reported that Russian pranksters Vovan (Vladimir Kuznetsov) and Lexus (Alexey Stolyarov), posing as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, tricked American film director David Lynch just days before his passing with a prank call. (Video available by clicking here.) David Lynch proposed a unique solution; one backed by extensive scientific research and actual military field-tests. His proposal involves the military applications of the Transcendental Meditation technique along with its advanced programs to end wars and prevent enemies from arising. Such proposals are now beginning to be taken seriously by world leaders.

For instance, on December 6, 2024, the United Nations General Assembly (UN) unanimously adopted a resolution declaring December 21st as World Meditation Day. This annual observance aims to raise global awareness about the benefits of meditation for mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

The inaugural theme for 2025 is "Inner Peace, Global Harmony," emphasizing meditation's role in fostering peace and unity. The resolution was co-sponsored by Liechtenstein, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Andorra, Mexico, and India, reflecting a collective commitment to promoting meditation worldwide.

Dr. Tony Nader, a top neuroscientist and medical doctor, helped launch a global Health Care initiative: a public health issue to incorporate meditation into health care systems all over the world. There is proven data: hundreds of research studies to attest to the effectiveness of the Transcendental Meditation program and its advanced practices.

Authors MajGen (R) Kulwant Singh, Col (R) SP Bakshi, Col (R) Jitendra Jung Karki, LtCol (R) Gunter Chasse', and Dr David Leffler have all written about data obtained by peer-reviewed research funded by the US Department of Defense, National Institutes of Health, as well as that conducted by many top universities. The time is ripe for militaries worldwide to implement this scientifically-validated approach to creating peace, thereby changing the world for the better.

A Brain-Based Solution for Lasting Peace

By MajGen (R) Kulwant Singh, Col (R) SP Bakshi, Col (R) Jitendra Jung Karki, LtCol (R) Gunter Chasse' and Dr David Leffler

In today's turbulent world, achieving lasting peace and ensuring national security are more urgent than ever. Traditional defense methods focus on advanced weapons, military strategies, and tactics, but a groundbreaking approach offers a new non-violent and holistic solution: Maharishi's Invincible Defense Technology (IDT). This brain-based technology taps into human consciousness to reduce societal stress, leading to harmony within as well as between nations. This method has demonstrated remarkable success in various global settings, offering defense forces an unprecedented tool to safeguard their countries.

What is Maharishi's Invincible Defense Technology (IDT)?

Maharishi's Invincible Defense Technology (IDT) lives up to its name. "Invincible" means undefeatable and unconquerable; "defense" refers to protection and safeguarding; and "technology" is applied scientific knowledge. IDT's primary goal is to prevent enemies from emerging in the first place. When properly implemented, a military using IDT becomes truly invincible-- not because of superior military prowess or weaponry, but because potential adversaries simply don't arise. Its effective application ultimately results in a world without war, terrorism, or crime, ensuring full security and fostering peaceful, happy, and productive lives for all.

IDT is rooted in the Vedic knowledge of ancient India revived by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of the Transcendental Meditation (TM ) program. It involves large groups practicing TM and its advanced technique, the TM-Sidhi program, together. This creates a powerful influence of coherence and positivity in society, reducing crime, social conflict, and even armed violence. The process is simple: when individuals engage in these practices collectively, their coherent brain activity creates positive, coherent effects in the entire population by enlivening an underlying "field-effect of consciousness." This phenomenon is referred to as the "Maharishi Effect."

The Maharishi Effect creates invincible "national armor" that cannot be penetrated by the collective negativity of other countries.

(Image by David Leffler)   Details   DMCA

How Does IDT Work?

IDT offers a scientifically-verified, non-violent path to national and global peace by defusing societal stress and replacing it with coherence and resilience. Scientific research shows that TM reduces stress, develops orderly brain functioning, and promotes mental clarity for the individual. However, when a group meditates together, their impact is amplified, creating a field of coherence in entire populations.

The collective coherence generated by such peace-creating groups has been shown to reduce negative tendencies in society, leading to fewer conflicts and greater stability. In essence, IDT prevents the buildup of societal stress-- the root cause of violence and unrest. IDT neutralizes negativity and promotes positivity and solutions, thus preventing the outbreak of violence.

Military application of IDT is accomplished by setting up special units called "Prevention Wings of the Military." These defense personnel practice TM and the advanced TM-Sidhi program in large groups twice daily as their primary duty.

The mechanism behind the Maharishi Effect is explained with the understanding that consciousness is a field, and that each human being contributes either positively or negatively to the global field of consciousness. EEG (electroencephalogram) research shows that TM practice reduces stress, enhances brainwave coherence, and improves resilience. Higher EEG alpha coherence and efficient brain functioning are correlated with TM practice, which fosters societal calmness. Refer to the International Journal of Psychological Studies[i] and International Journal of Neuroscience. [ii] [iii] [iv] [v]

Several groups of military personnel and/or civilians of sufficient size practicing IDT can create permanent peace for the whole world. This finding has been demonstrated and recorded many times since 1974 when the Maharishi Effect was first discovered. In that year it was found that there were significant reductions in crime, violence, traffic accidents and hospital admissions in cities where at least 1% of the population had learned the TM technique. These 1% cities were matched with controls-- towns of similar size and geographic location-- where 1% of the population had not learned the TM technique. In those control cities, crime, violence, traffic accidents and hospital admissions continued to rise as they had in the past.

A Journal of Social Behavior and Personality[vi] study suggests a biological mechanism for IDT's effects. It found that larger meditation groups correlated with increased serotonin (linked to well-being) and decreased cortisol (a stress hormone) within individuals in the surrounding community. These changes in non-meditators outside the group indicate a possible neurophysiological mechanism behind the observed reductions in societal aggression and hostility.

IDT: Scientific Validation of Impact on Peace and Security

Extensive peer-reviewed studies validate IDT's effectiveness likening its impact to the Meissner Effect in physics where coherence repels external disorder. This "Maharishi Effect" generates positive collective consciousness, neutralizing hostile intentions as evidenced by extensive peer-reviewed science.[vii]

For instance, in the hot summer of 1993 when the crime rate would be notoriously high, an intervention in Washington, D.C. demonstrated a 23.3% drop in crime during the experimental period. Predictions were pre-submitted, and results-- shown to be independent of weather or trends-- were published in Social Indicators Research.[viii]

A review in Studies in Asian Social Science[ix] confirmed similar outcomes in Cambodia, India, and the Philippines, reinforcing the findings of earlier research showing crime reduction linked to TM and TM-Sidhi group practice.

In the U.S., a study in the World Journal of Social Science[x] found that stress indicators in society went down when large IDT groups meditated, and rose when the group size declined. It was shown that the effect was independent of any prevailing economic or political factors. These studies establish the need for a permanent professional group of IDT peacebuilders whose profession it is to maintain this input of orderliness perpetually without breaks.

A Journal of Social Behavior and Personality[xi] study examined the impact of seven assemblies of TM and TM-Sidhi program participants over a two-year period in Lebanon, Israel, Yugoslavia, the Netherlands, and the U.S. The findings showed a significant effect on the Lebanon war, including a 66% increase in cooperation among opposing groups, a 48% reduction in conflict, and a 68% decrease in war injuries.

Globally, the Journal of Offender Rehabilitation[xii] reported significant impacts from 1983 to 1985 when large IDT groups assembled: worldwide terrorism deaths fell by 72%, international conflict dropped 32%, and violence decreased globally.

Blueprint for Global Peace: A Prevention Wing of 10,000

Imagine a scenario where a defense force implemented IDT by training 10,000 personnel in the TM and TM-Sidhi programs. This isn't just an idealistic vision; it's a practical strategy. Research indicates that when the size of the advanced meditation group reaches the square root of 1% of the population the positive effects become widespread. For a global population of approximately 8 billion, this critical mass is around 10,000 people.

A group of this size would create a global field of coherence, reduce tensions between nations, and foster a climate of peace. Defense forces, traditionally tasked with protecting national borders, would play a proactive role in preventing conflicts from arising in the first place. This approach aligns perfectly with the goals of ideal national security: protecting citizens and maintaining stability without encroaching on anyone's territory. Enmity is "nipped in the bud." No enemies can be born in an atmosphere of peace, positivity, and prosperity.

The Immediate Need for Global Peace

The world faces escalating challenges, from geopolitical tensions to domestic unrest, and global crises, like pollution affecting many large cities. Conventional defense strategies, while necessary at the current time, are address surface symptoms rather than root causes. By reducing collective stress, IDT offers a preventive solution. It doesn't require political agreements or cultural changes; it simply requires the commitment to train personnel in a proven, effective practice, and to continue to keep the group fully operational.

Implementing IDT is cost-effective, sustainable, and non-violent. It transforms defense forces into peacebuilders, creating an environment where conflicts naturally dissolve. The benefits extend beyond national borders, fostering a global culture of peace.

Current Military Model Fails to Address Social Stress

War is a cycle. Social stress builds, and diplomats cannot solve their differences. Groups take sides, resulting in enemies.

IDT a Profound Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA)

IDT represents an RMA paradigm shift in how we approach national and global security. By harnessing the untapped power of collective consciousness through Transcendental Meditation, defense forces can reduce societal stress, prevent conflicts, and create a lasting legacy of peace. With peer-reviewed research backing its efficacy and real-world field-tests[xiii] [xiv] demonstrating its impact, IDT isn't just a theoretical concept, it's a practical, urgently needed solution for our dangerous times.

Realistically, creating a group of 10,000 advanced military meditators is more than a goal; it is a dire necessity. In a precarious world yearning for peace, IDT offers hope, science, and a clear path forward. Let's embrace this innovative approach and transform our defense forces into champions of creating societal coherence and perpetual peace.

I am thrilled to see that the UN is starting to take this scientifically researched approach seriously. I did a quick Internet search for "Dr. Tony Nader," the medical doctor and Ph.D. scientist you mentioned at the start of the article who recently gave a presentation on the benefits of TM at the UN, an event also mentioned in this article about the iconic filmmaker, David Lynch. During my search I came across this other interesting article: Ivanka Trump Gushes About Her Love of Transcendental Meditation. (Click Here)

I was surprised yet pleased to discover that Ivanka practices TM! In the article, she has this to say about Dr. Nader: "I want to give a special thank you to Dr. Nader, the distinguished successor of the revered Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, for sharing his profound insights on consciousness and the practical applications of TM in our everyday lives." Ivanka clearly values this approach, and it is likely she has shared her thoughts on TM with her father.

If Pres. Trump were persuaded of the benefits of establishing Prevention Wings within the U.S. military practicing Transcendental Meditation, could he potentially pave the way for lasting world peace? Trump has long sought the Nobel Prize. Could this be a path to achieving it-- while also cementing his legacy as a president who never had to send his military to war? Stranger things have happened.

Commander-In-Chief President Donald J. Trump said the following in his inaugural speech:

"We will measure our success not only by the battles we win, but also by the wars that we end and, perhaps most importantly, the wars we never get into. My proudest legacy will be that of a peacemaker and unifier. That's what I want to be, a peacemaker and a unifier."

President Trump could easily achieve these lofty goals if the US military would adopt the Invincible Defense Technology (IDT) approach advocated in our article.

I have spent many years along with Rob Kall working on relaxation techniques. After all these years I can claim that biofeedback training is the most objective and productive method for relaxation.

Those studies conducted on Transcendental Meditation Techniques are fundamentally confounded as they are not conducted in life threatening situations in the battle fields.

Dr. Abbas Sadeghian,

thank you for your comment. Besides your personal anecdotal evidence, please cite any peer-reviewed Meta-analysis studies that back your contention that:

"After all these years I can claim that biofeedback training is the most objective and productive method for relaxation."

For the benefit of readers who have no background in the scientific method, here is a short description of Meta-analysis.

Meta-analysis is a research method that combines data from multiple studies to identify patterns, trends, and relationships that might not be apparent in individual studies. Its scientific value lies in its ability to provide a more robust, comprehensive understanding of a topic by pooling results, increasing statistical power, and reducing the impact of bias or small sample sizes. This approach helps to clarify conflicting findings and generate stronger, more reliable conclusions across different populations or settings.

Dear Dr Leffler

As you are aware biofeedback training is focused on treatment of psychosomatic problems through relaxation exercises. Biofeedback takes different instruments and different techniques. I have provided you with meta analysis and research in treatment of depression, asthma, tension headaches and headache disorders. I should mention that our own Rob Kall is known for his invention and work with temperature feedback.

I utilized temperature feedback before new migraine medications were available. I guess they referred to me as beta receiver .When softwares for biofeedback were produced by different investigators ,they would send them to me to use in a clinical setting to provide advice for any needed changes.

Thank you for providing these Meta analyses of Biofeedback. They are very impressive.

However, in your first post you said:

"I can claim that biofeedback training is the most objective and productive method for relaxation."

None of the research you cited mentions or compares Transcendental Meditation.

Dr. Abbas Sadeghian:

Regarding: "Those studies conducted on Transcendental Meditation Techniques are fundamentally confounded as they are not conducted in life threatening situations in the battle fields."

For the record: there is a study conducted by Dr. Tony Nader and others that was conducted under threatening situation. Here are the results:

" War shelling fell (p<.005>

" War casualties fell (p<.005>

" War property damage fell though fighting in the region intensified (p<.005>

" Violence ceased in Basinka compared to control villages (p<.00001>

The reason why this study was conducted in this dangerous situation is that the city of Basinka, Lebanon was the hometown of Dr. Nader (the scientist mentioned in the Foreward of our article). So to save lives and protect property he taught the Transcendental Meditation technique to people in his village.

The goal of Invincible Defense Technology is to prevent enemies from arising--victory before war. So it is better to utilize this approach in this way rather in the middle of a war.

These are numerous instances where large group of individuals practicing the advanced TM-Sidhi program were able to effect conflict usually from a distance.

Rather than list them here, please go to this webpage:

idleffler.com/2011/sapratableii/#b44

and do a "Find" command and search on the word "war." Interested readers easily can find them. Some non-relevant words will appear, but just move on to the next word in the search. The above mentioned study by Dr. Nader appears on the top of the chart.

Dear Dr Leffler

I looked at the meta analyses article that you provided for NEO readers. It seems the authors have utilised very old research data for their analyses . However , I do not wish to engage in an intellectual contest in proving the superiority of efficacy of one method of relaxation against another.

One look at my comments manifests that my main objection was utilization of TM for providing a cover for Putin's criminal invasion of Ukraine.

Dear Dr. Sadeghian,

I agree, it is time to move on regarding meta-analyses.

You are misunderstanding the contentions made in our article. We are not using "utilization of TM for providing a cover for Putin's criminal invasion of Ukraine."

I have addressed this point later in this forum in my comment to Robert Gormley.

Hi David,

Thanks very much for these resources. I figure one good turn deserves another, so am including some for you.

Wondering if you have personal experience with other forms of meditation in addition to TM. I want to say that I am a believer in "digging one deep well," rather than a number of shallow ones. On the other hand, it can be helpful to understand how other cultures and techniques have approached meditative awareness.

researchgate.net/ publication/383260999 _A_Literature_Review_on_ Vipassana_ Meditation_ Psychological_ Treatment_and_ Social_Benefits_for_ Harmonizing_the_ Inner_Self_and_Society

This literature review examines Vipassana meditation as a multifaceted practice with significant psychological and social benefits. Rooted in ancient Indian traditions and revived in the 20th century by S.N. Goenka, Vipassana meditation focuses on self-observation and mindfulness to cultivate deep self-awareness and ethical living. This review synthesizes historical, empirical, and theoretical perspectives to explore the practice's effectiveness in enhancing psychological well-being and fostering social harmony. Empirical research highlights that Vipassana meditation promotes emotional regulation, reduces stress, and improves mental health outcomes such as anxiety and depression.

Its impact on emotional intelligence and empathy contributes to more harmonious interpersonal relationships and reduced social conflict. The ethical principles underlying Vipassana, including non-violence and compassion, enhance community cohesion and ethical behavior, aligning with contemporary needs for social justice and environmental sustainability The review integrates findings on how inner peace achieved through Vipassana meditation extends to broader societal benefits, addressing both personal and collective challenges.

The holistic approach of Vipassana, which combines psychological insights with ethical living, offers a comprehensive framework for promoting well-being in today's fast-paced and fragmented world. Future research should further investigate the mechanisms through which Vipassana influences both individual and social dynamics and explore its potential for broader application in mental health and social programs.

Blair,

Thanks for sending the information in your last post.

In high school our class was taught a visualization technique. It produced some degree of relaxation for me, but for it was not easy to do. For this reason, I did not continue with it.

For me Transcendental Meditation was much more simple and effective as well as easy to practice for the following reasons:

[Continued from last post]

  1. Effortless Technique: TM doesn't require concentration, controlling the mind, or trying to empty it of thoughts. Instead, it's a natural and effortless technique where you silently repeat a specific mantra, allowing your mind to settle into a state of restful awareness.

  2. Quick Learning Process: I learned the method relatively quickly, in a few short sessions with a certified instructor. Unlike some techniques that require extensive training or practice, TM can be easily picked up and practiced by most people.

  3. No Special Equipment or Posture Needed: You can practice TM anywhere, anytime, sitting comfortably with your eyes closed. There's no need for special equipment, specific postures, or environments, making it very accessible. During my nine years in the military, I practiced TM on loud airplanes, buses, trains and other noisy environments.

  4. Immediate Benefits: I experienced benefits like reduced stress and anxiety, improved focus, and increased overall well-being soon after I began practicing, which for me was motivating and encouraging. My personal anecdotal experience is supported by a study published that Col. (Ret.) Brian Rees, MD and others who found that in a randomized study, that 90% of Congolese war refugees with PTSD symptoms improved below the "non-symptomatic" level in 30 days and remained non-symptomatic over a period of four months [Full disclosure: Col. Rees works with me at the Center for Advanced Military Science. Information about this study as well as other PTSD studies are available by: Clicking Here].

  5. Consistency and Routine: When I learned I practiced for 20 minutes twice a day, making it a manageable addition to my daily routines. My regularity of practice reinforced the habit and integrated it into my lifestyle.

While everyone's experience with relaxation techniques can vary, these factors for me contributed as an much easier and more accessible method for achieving relaxation and mental clarity.

Hi David,

Thanks for writing.

Some background: I can honestly say that I've been "on a spiritual path" for more than 40 years. I've explored a number of practices (particularly in earlier years; I have a few primary practices at this time). I've been extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to study with a number of excellent teachers. And I've also done a lot of reading and thinking about related matters.

If you haven't already, you can check out my OEN blurb for more background.

I have some thoughts to share but want to take things step by step. First, I'm curious about the questions I asked in my last post.

Dr. Abbas Sadeghian,

You are correct. I am not psychologist, social worker or a therapist of any kind. I am not licensed in Iowa to do anything.

However, our goals are the same. But we just work on different levels. You have many years of experience doing very important work during these stressful times. Your clinical work is done largely in person on the level of the individual. You strive to help heal your distressed patients in order that they live better lives and contribute positively to society.

I study and advocate supreme military science. I have a Ph.D. in Consciousness-Based Military Defense and I am the Executive Director at a think tank that has international military-related experts who advise us. While extensive peer-reviewed research shows that the principle component of the Transcendental Meditation technique provides many benefits on the individual level; extensive peer-reviewed research also indicates that proper application of Invincible Defense Technology (IDT) works largely on the societal level. IDT dissipates collective stress through the field effects of consciousness and reduces societal problems such as, war, conflict, terrorism and crime.

Good point regarding being kind! We both live busy lives and desire that our posts be short and to the point. Since we are both communicating quickly in writing to save time, we can't pickup each other's body language. Therefore, what we write may sometimes come across as being harsh and condescending.

Actually, I greatly respect you and Rob Kall for the important work that you are both doing.

Special salutes to Rob Kall and OpEdNews Managing Editor Meryl Ann Butler as well the others who operate the fine website that allows me to discuss important topics like this one with experts like you.

It should also be mentioned here that in our posts that we often disagree. I think that it is wise that you proposed moving on regarding Meta-Analysis, where we both can agree that we disagree.

Next time you see Rob, please give him my best.

Thank you for your insight. Unfortunately President Putin was not receptive . If you are interested go to this webpage:

Use the "Find" command and search on the words "Russia," "Putin" and "Pravda."

It is my opinion that President Putin will regret losing his chance to create lasting world peace and receive the Nobel Prize because he did not create a Prevention Wing of the Military.

Again, as I mentioned earlier some non-relevant words will appear, but just move on to the next word in the search.

The idea of meditation might be nice to hear about but its use in army is fanciful and difficult to measure scientifically. All those soldiers in the picture are in a secure army barracks not in a Ukrainian battlefield.

President Trump is a personal friend of Putin and these type of suggestions are used to justify selling out Zelenskyy.

If the U.S. does not wish to pay for this war, it will be justified. However, The European Union should be encouraged to make their own decision.

Abbas, I do not believe they are suggesting that combat troops should try to meditate while they are on the battlefield, although that would be amazing if it could be done! I've been practicing Transcendental Meditation since 1977 and I get distracted by a little knock on the door, LOL!

I believe the concept is to use meditation to keep anyone from even getting to the battlefield. And in the case of a battle in progress, Marharishi International University has done quite a number of exciting scientific studies on how violence significantly subsides in an area when a number of meditators are simply meditating nearby (in an enclosed, safe location). These studies are fascinating, links are above in the preface to the article.

Dear Meryl Ann

When one is examining this author's work, one needs to be aware of his intentions.

The concept of transcendental meditation was mainly introduced by psychologists of mid twentieth century who believed in humanistic existential psychology. Utilization of their work by republican politicians is not for humanistic purposes .They are abusing meditation to support the argument of the commander in chief to sell Zelenskyy to Putin.

This is not science in service of humanity .It is a political business bargain.

Getting involved in practice of clinical psychology requires a reasonable command of research in psychology. When the origin of a piece of research is a specific interest group one should be careful not to be sold the London Bridge.

The research on human sciences conducted in large countries like India and china are mostly contaminated by impossible sampling problems and specific interest groups advocating religious/ideological beliefs.

Dear Dr. Abbas Sadeghian,

Thank you for your comment. Your cautious approach to analyzing research is commendable. Indeed, there is research that does not warrant the scientific community's attention. However, there are a few misconceptions that need to be addressed for the benefit of both you and the readers of this discussion.

While it is true that the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique originates from the ancient Vedic tradition of India, it is not a religion, and no ideological beliefs are required to learn or practice it. For more information, readers are encouraged to visit the following webpage:

The Issue: Is the Transcendental Meditation program a religion?

Additionally, please refer to the transcript "Maharishi, how does TM influence the practice of one's religion?" Here, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi discusses how the practice of Transcendental Meditation enhances the practice of an individual's religion. Maharishi's message applies to people of all faiths-- Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism, Jainism-- every religion. You can read it here.

Regarding your comment about the research on human sciences conducted in large countries like India and China: as of the time the list below was compiled, only six of the 211 universities and institutions worldwide that have conducted research on Transcendental Meditation are located in India, and China does not appear on this list. Nonetheless, it is crucial that we do not allow ethnocentric biases and tendencies to cloud our judgment about research conducted in these countries. It would be beneficial if, in the future, India and China conducted more research on this topic.

The information below was taken from this webpage: Transcendental Meditation Research Publications.

Universities: Download a list of 211 universities and institutions where research on the Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation-Sidhi programs has been conducted.

Peer-Reviewed Research: Download a PDF document of 387 peer-reviewed publications on Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs (1970-2015), prepared by Dr. Roger A. Chalmers (588 KB file size).

Dear Sir

The fundamental difference between a Phd and a doctoral degree is the Ph.d.'s ability to conduct a very controlled study.

So far you have named a lot of research ,but none of them are yours.

Sir, would you please mention a controlled research which is published by you.

Not an Articles based on other peoples work ( a published research by you, in a reputable journal).

Dear Dr. Abbas Sadeghian,

Welcome back! I'm excited to continue our dialogues.

To provide a thorough answer to your question, I will need to locate my Vitae and other relevant background information. Please bear with me as this might take some time.

I reviewed your impressive Author's Page and another webpage listing your work history, certifications, and even a patent you hold. According to this information, you are listed as a Medical Doctor (MD). Is this correct? If so, your background is indeed remarkable.

However, in my brief internet search, I was unable to find a list of your publications, conference presentations, radio/TV appearances, etc. (I am sure you have them. Have any of them been translated into other languages?) Could you please provide that information.

Lastly, I discovered that you are truly a Renaissance person. Besides your knowledge in your chosen field, you are also a musician who plays the Tar, a Persian instrument. We share a common interest in music. While I do not play the Tar, I am a multi-instrumentalist and bandleader. You can view videos of my musical pursuits here.

Dr. Sadeghian,

Welcome!

Judging from the many comments that you have made, I am pleased that our article has peaked such interest with you. Thank you!

These are a few misconceptions that need to be cleared up before all the points brought up in your posts are addressed.

Before we continue our dialogue, I would be grateful if you would take the time to view this video:

Video: Important message for the military by Harvard-trained physicist Dr. John Hagelin. It includes a Transcription with full-sized images. Please let all us in the chat group know when you have completed this request.

In particular, this video describes peer-reviewed research conducted during the Lebanon War.

Best,

David Leffler, Ph.D.

Dear Dr Leffler

Thank you for your reply to my comments.

I should mention that it is not fair to refer a commentator to a video clip by someone else. It would have been better to hear your own understanding of what you are promoting.

I did watch the Video: Important message for the military and looked at Transcription with full-sized images. Unfortunately, both of these sources are founded on quantum Physics, which I am not an expert on. The producers created terribly convoluted arguments which could be easily misleading. Charts of algorithm, maths and different variations of quantum physics are difficult to understand and I cannot make any judgment on what I do not know.

However, since I did study Neuropsychology and Anthropology, I can admit that all human experience is brain based. If one makes proper use of neuroscience and the science of evolution one can add to human knowledge.

I have seen Iranian Suffies and Kurdish Ghaderi Dervishes doing magical acts which are beyond any known human limits. Having said that to be able to achieve those higher levels of conciseness one needs a life time rigorous exercise and self-imposed limits of human pleasures.

I simply cannot understand how a soldier or a regular American citizen can achieve that by in-home or out-home training .

Thank You

Dear Dr. Sadeghian,

I am both pleased and impressed that you took the time out of your busy day to watch the entire video featuring Dr. John Hagelin, the Harvard-trained quantum physicist. Additionally, I appreciate your honesty in admitting that you are not an expert on quantum field theory and therefore cannot make any judgments on areas outside your expertise. For the record, I am not an expert in this field either, as it requires specialized high-level mathematics and advanced physics knowledge typically gained in graduate school.

Fortunately, I had the opportunity to take Dr. Hagelin's Unified Field Theory Core Course, which is designed for undergraduate students without requiring an intense background in physics or mathematics. This allowed me to grasp some basic concepts relevant to my area of expertise. The reason I asked you to watch the video is to highlight that Quantum Mechanics can explain the apparent "action at a distance" that occurs when large groups of advanced TM meditators practice together and influence the surrounding society. In the interest of full disclosure, Dr. Hagelin is the Director of the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy, where I work, and he also serves as the International President of the Global Union of Scientists for Peace (GUSP). Some members of the Center for Advanced Military Science are also affiliated with this organization.

The Maharishi Effect is a scientifically validated phenomenon. When Isaac Newton authored the Principia, he accurately described the properties of gravitational forces, which were later used to propel humans to the moon. However, in that same book, Newton confessed he had NO IDEA how gravity worked. "Action at a distance" remained a mystery to him and to all. Only now are scientists beginning to link quantum mechanics and gravity, with many unknowns still remaining.

Similarly, we can clearly see the Maharishi Effect in action. The absence of a quantifiable "mechanics" for the Maharishi Effect is irrelevant. Science often begins by identifying relationships between physical events and objects. As this understanding spreads, terminology and concepts develop to explain the mechanics. Historically speaking, when Edison created devices to harness electricity, he didn't fully comprehend what electricity was. Yet, he successfully harnessed it for the benefit of humanity. This mirrors our current stage. Additionally, Transcendental Meditation (TM) has been proven effective on an individual level, supported by hundreds of studies, and we can leverage it to foster lasting peace.

Lastly, if you're more comfortable with the language of psychology rather than quantum physics, this paper might provide better insights on "how a soldier or a regular American citizen can achieve higher states of consciousness through in-home or out-home training."

Higher States of Consciousness in the Vedic Psychology of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi: A Theoretical Introduction and Research Review By Charles N. Alexander, Robert W. Boyer, and Victoria K. Alexander Here is the link to the paper

Dear Doctor

Thank you for teaching me the theoretical background of Existential / Humanistic Psychology and Higher States of Consciousness . FYI my doctoral degree was from one of the two schools of existential psychology. I was lucky enough to attend classes with Carl Rogers , Victor Frankel and students of Maslow.

Sir, Meditation techniques, at their best, are a very small part of the vast world of clinical psychology . Even if this old technique is supported by hundreds of research , it is still not a panacea to resolve the significant questions in clinical psychology or military personnel's problems.

I guess we both had agreed to be kind . I was hoping that you would stop creating articles forcing me to reply. Therefore please be Kind and control your impulses or feel free to create as many articles as you wish. This comment is my last one and I am not going to reply to you. I have more important tasks which require my immediate attention .

Thank you

Dear Doctor,

You are most welcome, and I gratefully thank you for teaching me more about biofeedback as well as your other fascinating interests. I have always been fond of this quote: "And gladly would he learn, and gladly teach" taken from Canterbury Tales. Our dialogue has been most fruitful for all parties concerned.

Wow! Yes, indeed you are such a fortunate man to study with such respected pioneers such Rogers, Frankel and students of Maslow.

Besides my doctorate in Conscious-Based Military Defense, I have a BA in Elementary Education, a MM in Education and a MA in the Science of Creative Intelligence (the study of consciousness). I did not major in Psychology, however, in my classes for all these degrees we learned about the important contributions that these great historical figures made in the field of Psychology which changed the field of Education.

You are correct in that the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique and its advanced programs are not a "panacea."

However, Transcendental Meditation (TM) has been studied extensively and shown to provide benefits in various areas, including:

  1. Education: TM has been incorporated into schools and universities worldwide. Research indicates that it enhances mental abilities, reduces stress, improves academic performance, and fosters a positive learning environment. Click here for more information.

  2. Drug and Prison Rehabilitation: Studies have shown that TM can significantly reduce stress, anxiety, and anger among inmates, leading to improved behavior and lower recidivism rates. Programs in prisons have reported up to 50% reductions in repeat offenses. Click here for more information.

  3. Health: TM is known to lower blood pressure, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, and improve overall well-being. It promotes physical health by enhancing relaxation and reducing stress-related illnesses. Click Here

In the following link please be sure to search on the word "military." Click Here

  4. Workplace Productivity: TM has been implemented in corporate settings to improve employee well-being, reduce stress, and enhance productivity. Companies report higher job satisfaction and better work-life balance among employees who practice TM. Click Here For second reference: Click Here

  5. Community Well-being: As discussed in our article. Large group practice of TM, known as the TM-Sidhi program (known in military circles as Invincible Technology), has been shown to reduce negative social trends and promote positive societal changes. Click Here

This extensive research indicates that people who work in these areas listed above are likely to enjoy greater success if the Transcendental Meditation technique and it advanced practices are implanted in addition to the current approaches to problem solving in these areas.

This post is addressed to you, David, rather than Abbas, for obvious reasons.

Abbas's post reveals the cracks in his facade and sadly, the limits of his intellect. He makes unfounded leaps that have nothing to do with reality, including what can reasonably be deduced from posts on this thread.

It is said that when we "assume" (without checking out our assumptions) we "make an ass out of you and me." Abbas is obviously guilty as charged. Also, his unwillingness to explore areas that contradict his beliefs or understandings leave him in a bell jar in which not much gets in or out.

For example, I have received extensive training in psychology and what I write is informed by more than 40 years of clinical practice. The flaws in Abbas's reasoning are blatant in the rest of his posts. It is evident to me that he has been grievously wounded in his life. I have much compassion for his predicament, but also some impatience, as it is clear that while he could work on this, he has not chosen to do so.

So, with this in mind I can ask you if TM is able to address these specific kinds of issues. Once again, I can recommend Edgar Morin's writing on complexity and complex thinking.

Another question occurs to me. I know that all techniques and approaches have "shadow" elements that are often blind spots. Are you aware of any aspects of TM that involve distortions or lacunae?

Blair,

However, like any practice, it's important to be aware of potential blind spots or distortions. Here are a few aspects to consider:

  • Transcendental Meditation (TM) is generally considered a safe and effective relaxation technique. Does TM Produce Any Harm? Click Here
  • Commercialization: TM is taught by certified teachers through a standardized course, which in the past could be costly. As of this writing, learning the Transcendental Meditation technique is based on a sliding scale based on income. This commercial aspect (TM teachers need to make a living) can sometimes lead to perceptions of exclusivity or elitism.
  • Scientific Claims: While there is extensive research supporting the benefits of TM, some critics argue that the evidence is not conclusive and that more independent studies are needed. Related Issue: Have critics disproved the Maharishi Effect research and theory? Click Here
  • Religious and Philosophical Roots: Although TM is presented as a non-religious technique, it has roots in Hindu traditions and Advaita Vedanta philosophy. Unfortunately, this can sometimes lead to misunderstandings or misrepresentations of its spiritual aspects. The Issue: Is the Transcendental Meditation program a religion? Click Here Issue: Is the Transcendental Meditation Program a cult? Click Here
  • Exclusivity of Mantras: Practitioners are given specific mantras by certified teachers, which can create a sense of exclusivity or secrecy around the practice. Click Here
  • Potential for Misuse: As with any meditation practice, there is a potential for misuse or misunderstanding, especially if practiced without proper guidance or in a way that deviates from its intended purpose. (It is not a good idea to give the keys to a high-performance sports to a nine-year and tell him to "Take on the road and see what it do do!")

  • Isn't transcendental consciousness just a metaphysical concept? Click Here

Quotes below taken from my article in Jewish Business News, Invincible Defense Technology is a better idea!

"In the midst of the devastating toll of the Israel/Gaza war, NPR journalist Carrie Kahn recently posed a poignant question to Israeli military officer Major Doron Spielman, reflecting the collective yearning for an alternative to escalating cycles of violence. Spielman's response, "If anyone has a better idea, I think we would love to hear it," echoes the sentiments of many who have grown weary of the human cost of conflicts. Extensive peer-reviewed research and field-tests indicate that Invincible Defense Technology (IDT) is a transformative approach that can prevent and swiftly end conflicts."

"IDT is not yet a panacea, but it offers a humane alternative as to how nations approach their security concerns."

Important Message for Iranian Leaders during their Difficult Times:

Military leaders like Iranian Major General Hossein Salami emphasize their militaries have become an invincible power for Islamic resistance, not just in Iran but also in Muslim territories, thwarting enemies' plots. Unfortunately, other prominent leaders worldwide share similar views on their countries' alleged invincibility.

While invincibility is commendable, can powerful weapons truly provide an invincible defense shield? "Invincible" means "incapable of being defeated." Throughout history, scientists have applied new technologies to achieve invincibility without success. Adversaries inevitably counter new weapon systems, and Iran's weapons will likely face the same fate.

True national security and invincibility can only be ensured by being a nation without enemies. Conventional defense strategies are powerless against modern destructive technologies like weapons of mass destruction, nuclear, biological, chemical weapons, long-range electronic missile technologies, and terrorism. No conventional military or technological defense strategy can fully safeguard a nation from these threats.

A New Counter-terrorism Strategy that Works - Intifada Voice of Palestine.

"As demonstrated by the recent wave of attacks, terrorists find ways to thwart counter-terrorism defenses. However, for leaders who seek it, there is a simple and cost-effective solution to create lasting peace known in military circles as Invincible Defense Technology (IDT). This method comes from the fields of social sciences and quantum unified field theory -- not from conventional approaches utilizing weaponry, and not from the field of politics."

Reducing Tension in the Middle East - Palestine-Israel Journal of Politics, Economics and Culture.

"We are not suggesting that politicians drop what they are doing. They would never be able to do so, nor would that be wise. What we are suggesting is that the military of Israel, or any organization, establish such coherence- creating groups to quickly reduce tensions in the Middle East's collective consciousness. The military is traditionally the most organized aspect of society and by itself could quickly create such a group. The international classic, Sun Tzu's Art of War, advises that it is better to win without fighting. A proven technology now exists that takes recourse to the most powerful level of natural law to enable the military to succeed-- by preventing the birth of an enemy. Its implementation could be a scientific experiment, using objective measures and independent, outside observers. The predicted outcome is accelerated progress towards a just, equitable, lasting peace."

A New Solution for the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict - In "Israel News Faxx Weekly Edition" Edited by Don Canaan: Israel News Faxx. [A Hebrew translation of this article was published by On The Left Side].

"At one time, meditation was considered "mystical." Now, doctors routinely prescribe it. That's because research shows Transcendental Meditation reduces stress and improves health. Hundreds of studies confirm real benefits for individuals, including better energy, learning ability, job productivity and happier relationships. The revelation that group meditation reduces turbulence in society and improves the community or global health is simply an extension of the individual practice of meditation. This is a new paradigm to be implemented, for it may hold the secret for planetary peace. If wars start in the minds of men, then peace logically should start there as well."

Meditation cited as possible remedy to reduce tensions in Mideast conflict - Palestinian News

A statement released by the Jewish-American group J Street earlier this month said, "Military force alone is inadequate as a response to the broader strategic challenge Israel faces."

"History shows that political resolutions cannot be achieved while tensions remain high. Deep-rooted ethnic and national stresses embedded in the collective consciousness of the region are at the basis of the Israel and Hamas conflict, as in all other conflicts worldwide. Unless these stresses are rooted out, destruction and killing will continue, as they have for millennia.

Now there is hope because a proven technology of consciousness to create peace is available. This novel approach establishes a filter of coherence and order in collective consciousness in the present, which is capable of transforming the flow of negativity from the past into a more harmonious future."

I agree that without being familiar with the studies, these concepts seem very farfetched...however, the many references in this article are pretty exciting!

This author writes:

"IDT is rooted in the Vedic knowledge of ancient India revived by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) program. It involves large groups practicing TM and its advanced technique, the TM-Sidhi program, together".

This is an inaccurate argument. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi is not the founder of transcendental meditation. The original founders of the field were Jean-Paul Sartre and Abraham Maslow.

The rest of quotation are just inaccurate, poorly spelled, wrongly quoted, intentionally misused for political purposes and total abuse of science.

If Vedic Knowledge was effective you would not have all of the crimes and wars of India.

Well, I just doublechecked all the spelling again, and it is all fine, whew! Since I am the one who published it, I wanted to make sure all the spelling is correct. But if you see an error that both I and my spelling program missed, please let me know and I will fix it, thanks so much!

Dear Meryl Ann

You have a better command of English than me. The spelling and pronunciation problems are mostly related to cultural origins of each letter of the alphabet. A simple example is pronunciation of Iran and Iraq. A lot of people pronounce them as eyeran rather than Iran and Irak rather than Aragh. The letter GH cannot be pronounced in English.

No Harm Done

Regarding your comment: "Maharishi Mahesh Yogi is not the founder of transcendental meditation." Here is what Encyclopedia Britannica states regarding your assertion:

"Transcendental Meditation, technique of meditation in which practitioners mentally repeat a special Sanskrit word or phrase (mantra) with the aim of achieving a state of inner peacefulness and bodily calm. The technique was taught by the Hindu monk Swami Brahmananda Saraswati, also known as Guru Dev (died 1953), and was promoted internationally from the late 1950s by one of his disciples, the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (1917?-2008), through the latter's Spiritual Regeneration Movement. The Maharishi coined the term Transcendental Meditation to distinguish the technique from other meditative practices and to emphasize its independence from Hinduism (indeed from any religion)."

Yes, you're right about the challenges of crime and war in India. Over time, the essence and comprehensive understanding of Vedic knowledge diminished, leading to its decline in societal application. In the past 50 years, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi-- recognized as one of the greatest scholars and teachers of the Veda and Vedic literature in recent history-- has revitalized this knowledge and its complete practice. Maharishi's initial efforts focused on reinstating the core of Vedic wisdom, particularly the experience of Samadhi or Transcendental Consciousness. To achieve this, he developed the Transcendental Meditation program and the advanced TM-Sidhi program, which enhances the peaceful and unifying influence of pure consciousness in society.

Thanks to extensive peer-reviewed research conducted mostly in the West, Transcendental Meditation is now garnering attention in India. Recently, a large assembly of advanced practitioners of Transcendental Meditation took place in India. See: Ten thousand people meditating for world peace. During the short time it was held:

"India's Prime Minister Modi had visited the venue near the megacity of Hyperabad. According to the United News of India news agency, he said: "Kanha Shanti Vanam is known as the largest meditation centre in the world, radiating positive energy. Kanha is propagating the wisdom and traditions of our ancient seers and yogis, which have been adopted by over 160 countries as yoga and meditation - a great service to humanity."

Due to the success of this assembly, two large groups of advanced practitioners of Transcendental Meditation are currently in the process of being formed permanently. Once they are fully established, social problems like war, terrorism, and crime should start to dissipate.

David,

I have appreciated everything you have said in this thread. However, your last sentence stopped me in my tracks. It strikes me as simplistic and optimistic in a way that might cause others to question your sense of judgment.

If you are suggesting the TM might be effective in stopping war, etc. - IF - it was supplemented by many other approaches, that would make some sense to me.

I feel we need to be very careful about what Peck calls "simplism." Edgar Morin's explication of "truncated thinking" is also relevant. I believe we must stay open to the complexities inherent in the current human predicament.

Blair,

I am so grateful that you brought up this point and well as sending me all of the interesting information that you provided in your last point. Your point about "simplism" is well taken. Thank you.

Yes, I eagerly want to discuss my bold statement. There is peer-reviewed research that backs it so I am confident that I can make it. I look forward to discussing it with you in more detail as well as with others who are reading this thread. Before we start our deep and involved discussion on this point, it is necessary that some background information is better understood so the concepts discussed will make sense.

This information is from an earlier post: Video: Important message for the military by Harvard-trained physicist Dr. John Hagelin. It includes a Transcription with full-sized images.

Did you see this video? If not, it would be most grateful if you would view it. This is a long video (1:13:00). We both have busy lives and I realize I am asking a lot of you and the readers of this thread to do this. But the background information that it provides should be very useful for the in-depth discussion that we are about to partake in. Once these large groups of expert advanced TM-Sidhi become fully operational peer-reviewed research indicates that we should see an amazing phase transition take place worldwide. I am very exited about this development that hopefully will happen soon during these dangerous times.

I look forward to our further sharing.

A profound Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA) will occur soon when Invincible Defense Technology (IDT) groups in India are fully operational globally. At a recent military-related conference, a speaker quoted Dr. Jim Dator: "Any useful statement about the future ought to appear ridiculous." While this visionary RMA seems implausible at first, it is supported by extensive peer-reviewed research and military field-tests, indicating that lasting peace is achievable through IDT. Can anyone cite peer-reviewed scientific studies showing that bombing leads to lasting peace? Likely not, as none exist.

Once this RMA is deployed, the Americans will question why the US military was not the first to deploy a unified field-based defense system globally. This RMA harnesses the Unified Field, which is one thousand million, million times (10 to the 15th power) more powerful than nuclear force. This is an exciting period for humankind's history. This new technology causes an irreversible change in military operations.

Please consider the following information about IDT:

Prominent senior-ranking defense experts reviewed this article. Kamal Shah, Editorial Director of Indian Aerospace & Defence, in the acceptance letter mentioned that this edition would be distributed in Paris during Euronaval 2024, along with regular subscribers and all defense and aviation ministries and industries. He wrote, "A hugely intriguing piece discusses peace and its strengthening relationship with brain-based technology. Research has shown that when large groups practice IDT brain-based techniques twice daily, the outcome is a measurable increase in harmony and peace in society: war and terrorism decrease, crime rates drop, and quality-of-life indicators improve. Arlene J. Schar & Dr. David Leffler delve into the intricacies of this psychological element."

Deploying Invincible Defense Technology (IDT) globally has been challenging and costly due to the need to assemble large groups of advanced Transcendental Meditators. This challenge will soon be overcome with two groups being formed in India, each consisting of 10,000 people. This exceeds the minimum needed to create a global super-radiance effect.

Calculation: World Population: 8,202,820,149 8,202,820,149 x 1% = 82,028,202 SquareRoot(82,028,202) is just under 9,100; therefore a minimum of 9,100 IDT experts is required for global invincibility, with additional experts needed for absences.

A study in the Journal of Offender Rehabilitation documents the global super-radiance effect when three large groups of IDT experts meditated twice daily, with the largest group being 7,000 participants. This led to a 72% decrease in terrorism-related casualties, a 32% decrease in international conflict, and an overall reduction in global violence.

With a world population of approximately 8.2 billion, a group of 10,000 advanced TM meditators (representing the square root of 1% of the world's population) could have profound positive effects globally.

Barry Spivack, UK coauthor of An Antidote to Violence: Evaluating the Evidence concurs: "We live in an interconnected world and our actions influence everything around us. Fifty demonstrations published in peer-reviewed journals have shown that group practice of Transcendental Meditation and its advanced programs reduces negative trends in a group. Currently, large groups are being assembled in India, and one would expect 2025 to be a breakthrough year for peace and prosperity." [Quote appears at the end of this article]"

Abbas.

I just read this comment.

I believe your assertion about Sartre and Maslow is incorrect. Neither was a meditation teacher. Sartre was one of a number of authors who have been described as "existentialists." Maslow has been rightly, I believe, characterized as one of the fathers of humanistic and transpersonal psychology. Both have made enormous contributions to western culture.

My understanding is that, while TM has practical benefits, its roots can be found in spirituality (as distinct from religion). And, to my knowledge (which is quite limited), Sartre would not have been a fan of any route to "cosmic consciousness."

It would be marvelous if TM can contribute to a more peaceful world. Given the fact the human species is teetering on the edge of extinction --- now more than ever --- we need every possible contribution to world peace.

If, however, TM, zazen or mindfulness meditation, or any other kind of awareness practice merely enables soldiers to kill with more clarity, to have more equanimity in doing so, or to be freed from one's conscience - that would clearly be an abuse, IMO.

Blair,

In response to your recent post, I'd like to clarify a few points. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi strongly advocated for an institute of advanced military science to be included in the curriculum at Maharishi International University. He believed that:

"Such a beautiful hope for the world. When the military rises in creative intelligence, world peace will be a reality. When the military rises in creative intelligence, 'do less and accomplish more' will be the result. Victory before war. The purpose of the military is to keep war from happening -- or to end it quickly if it does happen." (Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Maharishi International University Catalogue 1974-75, p. 381)

There is anecdotal evidence suggesting that the Transcendental Meditation program creates more effective warriors.

One of our founding members at the Center for Advanced Military Science (CAMS), the late Lieutenant Dan Burke, U.S. Navy SEAL Teams (Ret.), found the Transcendental Meditation technique to be "tremendously beneficial" during combat operations in Panama with the US Navy SEALS in 1989. Before he passed away, Dan co-authored an article in the now defunct Canadian Centres for Teaching Peace titled "Invincible Defense: A New 'Secret Weapon!'" It detailed how President Alberto Joaquim Chissano and Lt. Gen. Tobias Dai (Ret.), who later became the Defense Minister of Mozambique, used Invincible Defense Technology to end the 16-year civil war in Mozambique.

Lieutenant General Jose' Mart- Villamil de la Cadena (Ret.), a member of the CAMS International Advisory Board, initiated "The Coherence Project" as Vice-Minister of Defense of Ecuador. He co-authored an article published by the defunct defense think tank India Defence Consultants, explaining how Maharishi's Invincible Defense Technology helped swiftly end Ecuador's conflict with Peru.

He served stressful two deployments to Iraq and also one to Afghanistan. Because of career success, while serving an assignment in Germany, he was featured in a feature article entitled "Army Doctor Proactive in Trying to Keep Patients and Society Healthy" published in the Stars and Stripes.

They wrote as follows: "Dr. (Col.) Brian Rees is not a typical Army officer. He writes books on healing the world, meditates twice a day and practices yoga to clear his mind. It's that clear thinking that has won Rees the respect of his soldiers and his patients."

Colonel Brian Rees graduated from the US Army War College (USAWC) in 2007. His USAWC Program Research Paper about Invincible Defense Technology entitled "The Application of Strategic Stress Management in Winning the Peace" is available online.

While all the aforementioned warriors personally used the Transcendental Meditation program to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness in battle, they unanimously agree with Maharishi that the optimal way to utilize the advanced TM-Sidhi program is to prevent enemies from arising-- achieving victory before war.

The paper titled "Maharishi's Supreme Military Science -- A Revolutionary Change in the Character of Military Intervention," published by the now-defunct think tank India Defence Consultants, comprises two parts:

Part I: Individual Benefits Provided by Maharishi's Supreme Military Science

This section presents and summarizes research that supports the anecdotal personal experiences of the warriors mentioned earlier in this post.

Part II: Societal Benefits Provided by Maharishi's Supreme Military Science

This part presents extensive research that provides evidence that militaries could utilize Invincible Defense Technology as a human-resource-based and brain-based technology to prevent war, conflict, and terrorism.

David, An FYI:

Curse of Conflict. A Workshop to Resolve. Saturday 1 February. Online Offered on a donation basis

Jan 31

We live in a world beset with conflict with ourselves, with others, with authority figures and those we have influence over.

Conflict will not go away by wanting it to go away.

Our conflicts, inner or with others, ends when we address the causes/conditions of conflict. Arguments and tension feed conflict and the stress and anger that goes with it.

In this workshop. we will draw upon the wisdom of the Buddha. The discourse refers to triggers to conflict ranging from problematic views to war. We can get into a conflict through what we say. write and communicate.

The Buddha on what leads to non-conflict

1. Not to pursue pleasure that is vulgar, coarse, ignoble and unbeneficial. It is beset with suffering, vexation and despair.

2. Not to engage in blame/aggression, internally or externally. It is also vulgar, coarse, painful, ignoble and unbeneficial.

3. Not to praise oneself and put down others for their failures.

4. Instead of claiming that those who pursue vulgar pleasures or engage in blame/aggression, are on the 'wrong path,' one explains that such pursuits are "beset with suffering."

Middle Length Discourses. Sutta 139: Discourse on the Exposition of Non-Conflict

In this profound discourse, the Budha's teachings point out conflict produces "suffering, despair and fever."

Our workshop gives priority to offering practical steps to freedom from conflict through understanding and wise communication.

MAY ALL BE FREE FROM CONFLICT.

Good to hear from you, David.

Re- your post (and really, all of your posts) I get the passion and enthusiasm you bring to this field. And I find it of great interest.

I asked a few questions you haven't yet answered, and I am eager to hear your thoughts. If need be, just search under my name in this thread.

Sad, but true - at this stage of humanity's evolution we do need a military. That part is clear. And not starting wars - or ending them quickly - are both marvelous goals. Speaking of our level of evolution, I wonder if you would comment on potential abuses of this approach. As I mentioned - if meditation and meditative awareness is misused - (such that beings can kill with alacrity or without conscience, that would be unfortunate).

I look forward to your replies.

My best sense is that the accelerating interest in meditation and spiritual growth among human beings can be understood as a species survival response.

We know that it is common for an evolutionary leap to occur when a species is facing extinction.

We are...and this round, humans are moving toward an evolution of consciousness, rather than physical evolution per say. Overall, our evolution, which is already underway, is moving is toward increasing wisdom and compassion.

And naturally, old habits of greed, hatred and delusion will attempt to tenaciously hold us in their grip. They will predictably increase before diminishing.

This will also entail a movement beyond - but not replacing - our current emphasis on the rational mind. It will be trans-rational, rather than ir-rational (or anti-rational).

Why Do I Hate Putin?

There are not that many people that I despise their existence, but there are a few that I cannot stand. As a matter of fact, if they die I will be happy.

I guess everyone who knows me knows that I would like Khamenei to be eliminated, Putin is the number two on my list. This SOB is a lieutenant colonel of the KGB. He is one of the few world leaders who supports the Islamic republic. He is an associate of Khamenei (as much as one can trust him). Khamenei gave him drones to hit Ukrainian forces and he used it on civilians and troops. Putin has been selling every weapon he can to the Islamic Republic. He invaded the free and peaceful country of Ukraine.

He has no scruples, he cheats, lies and orders gruesome assassination of rivals. When a few Chechen terrorists had taken hostages in a Moscow theater, he ordered them to be gassed, knowing that one thousand innocent Russians would be killed with them.

When he is walking he keeps his right hand steady and close to his body, a behavior left over from KGB days. The KGB officers are trained to keep their hand close to their pistol to be able to draw quickly.

He has done everything to undermine America in the world . He is the worst enemy of the U.S. He betrayed Israel and Netanyahu does not want him either.

When he invaded Ukraine he got himself in a bad trap . I do not want him to get away with it. Zelenskyy wants to keep fighting him. Shouldn't we help him? For the U.S, Ukraine is only a financial burden. The people of Ukraine are ready to shed their blood to fight to defeat him.

David,

I'd also like to add my understanding that meditation and the spiritual path in general are both capable of helping us go further than our practical challenges (war, healing the social order)...as important as these are.

Another way of saying this is that, as wisdom traditions from around the world have said, humans are in many ways living in a state of illusion or waking sleep. If this is so, "awakening" can become a priority.

Hi David,

Looking toward tomorrow, I'd just like to crack open a door.

That is, how psychology and psychotherapy intersect with TM.

I'll make a general statement for the moment: that both politically oriented folks and those pursuing spiritual growth often miss the mark when it comes to applying clinical knowledge to our understanding of the world.

I look forward to discussing this in more detail with you, as well as the questions I asked earlier today.

The International Conference on Comprehensive Assistance for Participants of the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Ukraine for Integration to Civilian Life was held at the "Central House of Officers" in Kiev, Ukraine. This conference was co-sponsored by NATO, the David Lynch Foundation of Ukraine, and the State Service of Ukraine on War Veterans and Participants of the Anti-Terrorist Operation. Previously the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine had approved their own TM pilot PTSD study. Due to its initial success, the Global Union of Scientists for Peace (GUSP) hosted an international conference in Kiev, Ukraine.

Lt. General (Ret.) Vasyl Krutov,
former chief of the Ukraine Anti-Terrorism Center was among the impressive list of participants who spoke at or voiced their support for the conference. Others included: President Joachim Chissano of Mozambique, who applied innovative IDT programs to end that nation's civil war; retired Ecuadorian Lt. General Jose' Villamil, who also applied IDT to end war between Ecuador and Peru; and Mr. Mohd Khalid Naseemi, the founder and Director-General of the Afghanistan Environmental Society. For more information including pictures, read this report by Ekkehart Kahl.

Due to the success of this international conference the military of Ukraine was urged to expand the implementation phase. See this short online video "Creating Peace in Ukraine" from DLFTV. Unfortunately, this project was not expanded in time and war broke out again in Ukraine.

Following the conference, President Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy showed interest in implementing IDT in Ukraine. Unfortunately, we have not been able to contact him since the outbreak of the war. If anyone can reach President Zelenskyy, the Center for Advanced Military Science is ready to assist in creating an invincible military. This offer is also available to any country's military.

Book on the topic of Invincible Defense Technology (IDT):

Attn: President Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy

The previously mentioned Lieutenant General (Ret.) Vasyl Krutov, former First Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine and First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine wrote the following endorsement for the book: An Antidote to Violence: Evaluating the Evidence:

"Barry Spivack and Patricia Saunders address the problems of preventing violence and war with a high level of professionalism, and, by examining a means to achieve sustainable peace supported by long-term research, have created a book that is hugely relevant. Most importantly, they highlight the interdependence of power, violence, security, and individual and collective consciousness. This book will be extremely useful for people of all nationalities, regardless of their status, different religious beliefs, personal preferences and life strategies. The theoretical and methodological principles outlined here deserve to be studied carefully and disseminated in the world."

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy,

We propose that the Ukrainian military should deploy Invincible Defense Technology (IDT) and Yogic Flying as the ultimate defense system, to prevent enemies from arising. IDT has already shifted the role of the military to peacebuilding in several countries, altering the concept of defense systems. History shows that many of today's proven military technologies were once ridiculed. For instance, armies delayed adopting the breech-loading rifle despite its superiority, and few believed Billy Mitchell's wooden flying machines could sink battleships.

New scientific technologies provide strategic advantages even from a distance. The radar "shield" in England during WWII, for example, maximized the power of the under-sized Royal Air Force. This exemplifies General Giulio Douhet's strategy: "Victory smiles upon those who anticipate the change in the character of war, not upon those who wait to adapt after changes occur."

Numerous publications indicate that militaries are exploring IDT and Yogic Flying. Some notable articles include:

These articles, while speculative, reflect ongoing research and developments worldwide, supporting the concepts or military deployment IDT Yogic Flying to create lasting peace.

Maintaining Peace and Cultural Integrity in Russia and Ukraine: A Field-Tested Approach - New East Platform.

"The militaries of Ukraine and Russia are responsible for defending their citizens. As with other militaries, they can now succeed in their missions simply by creating a Prevention Wing - a group of IDT experts in their respective countries. The size of these Prevention Wings would be small - approximately the square root of 1% of the population of each country - so only a small number of military personnel would be needed to staff these Prevention Wings. IDT could also be introduced into other large groups such as the police forces or militias. Ideally, Ukraine and Russia would each establish a Prevention Wing to create internal coherence and cultural integrity for the nation. However, even if only one country created a group of IDT experts, peace still could be maintained, especially if the group assembled was large enough to exceed the square root of 1% of the population of the entire region."

"As part of their responsibility to protect citizens, the militaries of Russia and Ukraine are obligated to thoroughly examine scientifically validated methods for preventing conflict, war and terrorism. Extensive scientific research objectively says, "Yes, this approach works." To implement IDT, it is only necessary to provide the proper training for a group of military personnel - or indeed, any sizable group within the nation. The militaries of Ukraine and Russia have the opportunity today through IDT to prevent further turmoil and to create national security, invincibility, and peace."

Scientific militarily field-tested approach to end Ukraine's war - Euromaidan Press

"Social turmoil such as conflict, war and terrorism are ultimately a human problem requiring a human solution. Experts in the field of conflict resolution maintain that the underlying cause of social turmoil is accumulated collective "social stress" - i.e., mounting political, religious and/or ethnic tensions between rival factions. As social stress builds collectively, divisions grow stronger, groups take sides, leaders are unable to resolve differences, and enemies arise within or outside the nation. Military and police forces may then be called upon to protect the nation, resulting in conflict, terrorism, and unpredictable outcomes. But even if military force temporarily solves the problem for the stronger side, the social stress remains, fueling future cycles of turmoil. In contrast, the absence of collective stress translates into the absence of tension between competing sides, thereby reducing the probability of hostilities."

"As part of its responsibility to protect citizens, the military of Ukraine is obligated to thoroughly examine scientifically validated methods for preventing conflict, war and terrorism. With the IDT approach, all that is necessary is to provide the proper training for a group of military personnel - or indeed, any sizable group within the nation. The military of Ukraine has the opportunity today through IDT to prevent further turmoil and to create national security, invincibility, and peace. Extensive scientific research objectively says, "Yes, the system works." Why not use it now? Time is running out."

Blair,

If one considers crime to be "demonic," this finding may be of interest: During an eight-week period in Washington, D.C., in the summer of 1993 (Table II: 33), a public demonstration of the TM-Sidhi technology, which was predicted in advance and widely publicized, led to crime rates dropping by 23% below predicted trends. Predictions were submitted to government leaders and newspapers beforehand. The research protocol, approved by an independent Project Review Board, set the experimental period from June 7 to July 30, 1993. Time series analysis was employed in the study:

  • Crime rates fell 23% below the predicted level when the TM-Sidhi group reached its maximum
  • Temperature, weekend effects, or previous trends did not account for these changes.
  • Public approval of the US president shifted from a negative trend to a positive trend, as predicted
