PM Modi Receives Mauritius' Highest Honour; Amit Shah, Jaishankar, Yogi React
PM Modi said in a post on X (formerly Twitter), "On the special occasion of Mauritius’ National Day, I had the opportunity to meet my good friend, PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the National Day Parade as chief guest in Mauritius where he received the nation’s highest honour, The Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean.
PM Modi extended gratitude to the people of Mauritius for the honour. He said, “I express my heartfelt gratitude for the honour given to me. Its an honour given to 140 crore Indians."

Prime Minister Modi is the first Indian to receive this prestigious award, which recognises his contributions to strengthening ties between India and Mauritius. He is the fifth foreign national to receive this distinguished recognition. This marks the 21st international award conferred upon PM Modi by a foreign nation.
Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated PM Modi, saying, “The Modi Doctrine of Diplomacy has elevated Bharat’s stature as a global leader by building bridges of cooperation and discovering the lost ones. This award is a global recognition of these efforts. My heartfelt congratulations to Modi Ji."
Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar said, “The award is a testament to PM Modi’s leadership and commitment towards a prosperous Indian Ocean Region. Also underlines the special bonds of friendship between India and Mauritius."
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “This prestigious recognition reflects his exemplary global leadership and the ever-strengthening India-Mauritius ties. Heartiest congratulations to PradhanMantri Ji on this historic achievement!"

The PM was accompanied by his Mauritian counterpart Navinchandra Ramgoolam for Mauritius’s 57th National Day celebrations as the Indian Navy participated in the parade with a marching contingent. An Indian Navy helicopter, the Akash Ganga Skydiving Team from the Indian Air Force and a team of NCC cadets took part in the festivities.

He added, “We have decided to raise our partnership to an Enhanced Strategic Partnership. We talked about how we can work together in areas such as infrastructure, housing, digital technology, health and more. We also want to cover more ground in areas like AI, capacity building and sustainable growth."
