Update:

While Barbados is the world’s most expensive travel destination, the most affordable country comes at a cost that is around 20 times lower.

That’s according to the insurance and personal finance experts at HelloSafe.com, who have released a ranking of the globe’s costliest and cheapest countries for tourists, by average daily budget.

HelloSafe’s top 10 most affordable countries:

1. Laos - $15 ave. daily budget

2. Kazakhstan - $19

3. Rwanda - $21

4. Ghana - $22

5. Mongolia - $24

6. Armenia - $26

7. Burkina Faso - $27

8. Georgia - $28

9. Mali - $29

10. Burma (Myanmar) - $34

It’s important to note that the U.S. State Department has issued recent advisories warning against travel to Burma (Myanmar), Burkina Faso and Mali.

The State Department has also advised Americans to “exercise increased caution” when traveling to Armenia, Ghana, Laos and Rwanda.

How were these travel budgets calculated?

HelloSafe says its budgets take into account the cost of paying for accommodation, food and travel within the destination country. The figures do not include the cost of traveling to the country.

The State Department has in recent months urged travelers to “exercise increased caution” when visiting Greenland, the Maldives and the UAE.
