New York: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Social Development and Family, participated in the 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Minister of Social Development and Family, HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi led the State of Qatar's delegation to the session. Her Excellency delivered Qatar's statement during the general discussion of the Commission on the Status of Women, emphasizing the key role of Qatari women in various fields and the state's ongoing efforts to promote their rights and empower them through supportive policies that contribute to achieving sustainable development.
As part of the session's activities, Her Excellency participated in a side event entitled "Women and Technology: Inspiring Stories in the GCC Countries," which showcased successful experiences in empowering women in the technology sector in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
Her Excellency also delivered a speech in which she highlighted the role of Qatari women in the fields of technology and innovation and reviewed the state's efforts to support this vital sector.
On the sidelines of the session, HE the Minister held a series of bilateral meetings with a number of senior officials, including a meeting with HE First Lady of Lebanon, Nemat Aoun with whom she discussed ways to enhance Arab cooperation in the field of women's empowerment.

HE Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Lulwa Saleh Al Awadhi; HE Minister of Social Development in the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al Najjar; HE Minister of Labour and Social Affairs in the Republic of Armenia, Narek Mkrtchyan; HE Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection of the Republic of Liberia, Gbeme Horace-Kollie; HE Minister of Social Development, Gender, Youth Empowerment, Ageing and Disabilities in Saint Kitts and Nevis, Isalean Phillip; and several officials, including representatives of the Government of India. The meetings discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of social development, developing programmes and legislation, and promoting knowledge exchange between countries.
