World Health Organization responds to the humanitarian needs in Tripoli following the clashes in Mitiga Airport, thanks to the ECHO fund

Tripoli, 18 January 2018 – Following the armed clashes that took place in Mitiga Airport and surrounding areas in Tripoli, the World Health Organization (WHO) country office in Libya delivered urgently one Emergency Trauma kits type B to the Filed Hospital in Tripoli, which is operated by the Ministry of Health’s Administration of Wounded. Each kit covers the treatment of 100 injured cases and was procured with the financial support of the European Union Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (ECHO).

The clashes resulted in the killing of 25 people and the injury of 101 more. The injuries varied from moderate to serious.

The World Health Organization renews its continued humanitarian commitment and support to all people in Libya.
