HEMP Becomes First Hemp-Focused Publication Distributed in Whole Foods Market

Hemp Magazine to be distributed through Whole Foods Market effective immediately

BERKELEY, Calif., Sept. 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- HEMP, an internationally distributed quarterly magazine covering the burgeoning global hemp industry, today announced that the printed magazine has been selected for shelf space and distribution at 56 Whole Foods Market stores in 19 states and Washington, D.C.

The magazine, which began publishing in 2017, is the first hemp-focused publication to establish a mainstream distribution channel such as Whole Foods Market.

HEMP covers the political and economic issues affecting hemp farmers and entrepreneurs with a focus on identifying the latest trends taking shape in the rapidly growing global hemp marketplace. The publication also focuses on environmental issues and cannabinoid science, as well as the latest products and innovations on the market.

In addition to Whole Foods Market, HEMP is available in Lucky Stores in seven states, select local co-ops and community markets, Barnes & Noble stores throughout the U.S., and via subscription that can be purchased online here.

Whole Foods Market stores offer several hundred food and body care products that include hemp as an ingredient, with more available each season. The market for hemp-based products has skyrocketed in recent years, with sales topping $820 million in 2017. The market is expected to reach $1 billion in 2018.

“We are very proud to be the nation’s only 100 percent hemp-focused publication,” said HEMP’s owner and publisher Eugenio Garcia, who has a decade of experience in the publishing industry. “In recent years, the hemp plant has emerged as a highly valuable commodity that is providing new opportunities for farmers across the United States and beyond. It has tremendous agricultural and environmental potential and we are committed to sharing those stories through our publication HEMP as we team up with world class companies like Whole Foods Market to reach new audiences who are eager for this type of knowledge.”

HEMP’s leadership team consists of Managing Editor Julia Clark-Riddell, Associate Editor Joel Hathaway, and Art Director Todd Heath, who combine decades of expertise working with multiple publications.

The current issue available in Whole Foods Market explores the organic hemp revolution, Colombia’s underground hemp industry, farmers in Oregon who are switching from cannabis to hemp production, and more.

The next issue of HEMP will be available in November 2018 and will cover Montana traditional agriculturists turning to hemp as a commodity crop, the burgeoning interest in genetically edited hemp, the rebirth of hemp on the farms of America’s most prominent founding fathers, as well as holiday recipes, product reviews, and the latest political developments affecting the industry.
